Lip Scrub - Mojito (1oz)

EVERYONE! This is skincare for all; no matter your age, gender, or race, you can benefit from this scrub. Just keep in mind that the youngest and the oldest users may experience more skin sensitivity and have more delicate skin than others and you should adjust the amount of product you use, how often you use it, and how vigorously you scrub as per individual needs. Delicate skin of toddlers or minors, for example, should not be scrubbed as often, or with as much product, as a general adult. Pregnant women should be cautious when using natural essential oils, talk to your medical provider to see if this product is right for you while gestating.

Caution should be taken when using with babies and toddlers.

Some people can experience slight skin irritation when using 100% essential oil; perform a spot test on your skin first if you are unsure.

Some essential oils can be harmful to pregnant and breastfeeding women (and their babies).

Castor Sugar - Sugar is a natural exfoliant that effectively polishes away dead skin while helping to boost circulation to the skin surface. It is also full of Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) like glycolic acid, which increase cell turnover. Cane Sugar is gentle on the skin and is ideal for all skin types. Sugar is also a natural humectant, trapping in moisture.

Jojoba Oil - Jojoba is a humectant, which means it draws water to the outer layers of the skin, keeping the skin hydrated. It is packed with Vitamin E which can fight oxidative stress caused by everyday pollutants & toxins. It's hypoallergenic and noncomedogenic, making it the perfect companion for your smackers.

Coconut Oil - The primary benefit of coconut oil is its moisturizing effects. This makes it ideal for chapped lips. Coconut oil is also considered an emollient. Emollients are non-cosmetic moisturizers that help keep the skin moist, and they’re primarily used to protect the skin. Other benefits include the potential disinfecting and antimicrobial effects of coconut oil. Such benefits may keep your lips germ-free, and subsequently help protect any cracked skin from becoming infected too. When you use the oil for your lips, you may help your surrounding skin look smoother and more radiant.

Japanese Peppermint Essential Oil (Mentha canadensis) - The history and uses of peppermint oil have been dated back to 1000 B.C in Egypt as well as ancient Asia. Early Egyptian, Chinese and Japanese cultures used peppermint plants and oils for their healing and restorative properties. Peppermint oil is high in omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamin A, C, minerals, manganese, iron, calcium, magnesium, folate, copper and potassium. The historical uses and research done on the benefits of it all have come to the conclusion that peppermint is one of the most naturally beneficial plants in the world.

 

Persian Lime Essential Oil (Citrus latifolia tanaka) - The health benefits of lime essential oil can be attributed to its properties as a potentially antiseptic, antiviral, astringent, aperitif, bactericidal, disinfectant, febrifuge, hemostatic, restorative, and tonic substance. Native to Persia, this citrus is a hybrid of a key lime and a lemon, bringing a mass attack of natural benefits to this oil cold pressed from the peel. The fresh uplifting scent is full of antioxidants and compounds such as Sesquiterpenes to fight inflammation, b-Pinene + sabinene offering powerful antibacterial & antimicrobial properties, and y-Terpinene as an astringent.

Castor Sugar is extra fine sugar making it ideal for the delicate skin of the lips and face. Sugar is better as an exfoliant because the glycolic acid in sugar breaks down the “glue” molecules that hold skin cells close together. This allows younger cells to form easier. Sugar scrubs hydrate your skin because sugar is a natural “humectant”—it draws moisture from the environment into your skin. Larger sugar granules and salt, for example, are better suited for tougher areas such as the body or face.

Typically, an exfoliating scrub should not be used more than 3 times a week to avoid over-exfoliation. Experiment and find your happy place. The skin on the lips is softer and more sensitive than most of the body, hence the castor sugar which is finer and less abrasive.

If you have sensitive skin, you should be cautious when incorporating any exfoliant into a skincare routine. Start by only using a sugar scrub once a week to see how your skin reacts, then increase frequency as needed and tolerated.

If skin irritation occurs, please lessen frequency of use. A very small percentage of users with sensitive skin could experience irritation caused by using essential oil.

Sugar scrub can expire. If it looks and smells normal, it’s probably okay to use. If the scrub has changed color, consistency, or smell, it’s time to toss the scrub.

Soleil Bleu scrubs could last anywhere from 3-24 months. This often depends on how much water gets into the container, how much humidity or mold may be present in the environment, and the specific oils mixed with the sugar. I do use a natural preservative to help combat premature spoilage. It is recommended to use a scoop or spoon to prevent cross contamination which will extend the life of your scrub.

All you need to do is scoop out a pea-sized portion of the formula with your dry finger (or use a scoop) and then gently rub it over your lips. Once you’ve scrubbed and wiped the dry skin away, you’ll find your lips soft, hydrated, and refreshed. Wash away with warm water, wipe away with a warm cloth, or lick off the excess.
